Another convention come and gone.

Well, it's that time again. Team cat has finished Anime Nebraskon in style and we're winding down before we contemplate adding another convention to the roster for next year. I did pretty well this year. not as well as last year but still good enough by my standards. Nebraskon was a lot of fun and I met some pretty cool people, got to talk to a couple of people I already knew and even got to chat with some people I didn't get the chance to last year. I seem to be making all sorts of friends in the convention community and that's pretty cool. This year Nebraskon put the vendors in a different room that had more access for setting up and tearing down. It was on the other end of the convention hotel but I liked it because it was seriously just down the hall from our hotel room. No long walks for me this year. I didn't like the fact that since the pool area became a walking path people took it to mean "PARTY OVER HERE!" Yeah talk about a pain in the but hearing loud music and rowdiness when you are trying to unwind from a day of working. We were approached by a few other conventions asking us to come to there con and we're thinking out doing the one in July that's also in Nebraska.

In other cool trip news we found a gr eat all you can eat sushi place that is now going to be a new tradition every year. It's on the other end of Omaha but well worth it. I'm already looking forward to going next year. Along that line I am reminded I need to actually post my stuff on etsy unlike last year. I also need to work year round instead of waiting last minute and not having any time for anything but crafting. I'm going to start getting my life and work straightened out more so I'm not so rushed or stressed because this year was so bad that I got a cold sore a week before the con and my left eye was almost always twitching because I was majorly stressed. I'm also going to start making more things with my embroidery machine. Might as well make some really cool things with it since I paid so much for it. Oh and I also plan to get a hold of the person who runs Italy Ava here in town about them selling things for me too. I figure get my name out there enough and soon this will become my full time job. I don't even know what else to say right now but I do know that I have to go and get some other stuff done so I'll keep you all updated soon.

Big news

My local yarn shop moved locations. I helped on Sunday and Monday early morning to get it ready to open on Monday at 10am. The Purple Iris Yarn shop got in a new yarn called Link from Berroco. I'm making a sample for the shop as well as making a new pattern for it since there is only one pattern I know of for it. I'll be sure to post the pattern up  for all you wonderful people. In further big news Anime Nebraskon is creeping up on us. In two months I'll be selling my crafts in Nebraska. I hope to see some of you there. Until next time...

Nebraskon Prep work

Hello again. I just wanted to pop in and let everyone know how things have been going. I just got the email from Nebraskon saying they got our payment so we officially are on the vendor list. In crafting news Nom Nom Kitty and I have been working in my office making wonderful items for the convention. We both have several new items to show. We're even improving the quality of our items by using my embroidery machine to add the little details that were harder to put on last year. Another new thing this year is our ability to accept credit cards and being able to send people digital receipts. I think that's about all of the news I have for now. I'll post again When I get more work done.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

After a series of unfortunate events I finally made it to the last Harry Potter movie. I couldn't go to the midnight showing like I wanted because it had been sold out for 2 weeks before the movie came out and I didn't even know the tickets had gone on sale. I was able to go to the last showing of the night on the 16th. There were actually several open seats. I think about 1/6 of the theater was open when I went. As a teen novel lover I have read all the books repeatedly so it's no surprise I had disliked some of the past movies for their inaccuracies and exclusions. I was nervous seeing part 1 because of this reason but went anyway. I loved part one so much that when part 2 was coming out I grew very hopeful and excited. Again I was lead into a movie with inaccuracies, additions, exclusions and event shifts. Not as bad as some of the other movies had had but enough form to say the movie was only ok. Would I recommend the movie? Well if you hated the ending of the book probably not but otherwise I think it's worth seeing no matter how die-hard of a fan you are. I'm a completist so I'll be buying the giant box set when it comes out. I haven't purchased any of the movies yet because I know they always release a really cool set after all the movies are out. I'm sad to see the series end but as the say everything must come to an end and this movie ended better than I would have thought it would after all the crap we were fed in the middle movies of the series.

Which Jane Austin heroine am I? Now you know.

You Are...Elinor Dashwood!

You are Elinor Dashwood of Sense & Sensibility! You are practical, circumspect, and discreet. Though you are tremendously sensible and allow your head to rule, you have a deep, emotional side that few people often see.

I'm not even a little surprised.

Finally I have a solution...and updates

I've been looking into getting a new camera. I thankfully used my phone's camera to take pics of what I got when it came. I just had to get things set up with my computer to make the transfer. Now I get to show you guys some of the exciting stuff going on in my crafting world.

I'll start off with the fabric. The fabrics in this box are for making more brain slugs, metroids, and some surprise plushies.

Next I got this package.

Which contained.....OUR NEW SHOPPING BAGS!!! *squeally glee* They very much go with the shop name nicely.

And finally the last package for now. I got cuff link blanks because I'll be making some nerdy cuff links.

I also have other jewelry plans in the works. I just need  to purchase the stuff for that and when I do I'll let you all know then what the plans are.

All of that is very exciting...well to me at least. I'm excited to get working on the new items for the shop. In con news we have our hotel reserved for Anime Nebraskon. We also just reserved our table for the con. If you are at the convention look for the Cat Girls. We'd love to see you there, especially if you are in costume. As crafters and cosplayer too we love to see peoples costumes. Until next time.

Sorry for the delay

I'm sorry for that I didn't post the next day. Life has sort of gotten away from me lately. I'm working on crafts, ordering materials for stuff I'm going to be selling at Nebraskon and I'm a guild leader in World of Warcraft. I recently had to become the hated person on WoW by some so most of the other guildies could be happier. My cool crafting news is I got my plushie fabric last week.I was going to post pics but my camera is burning through batteries before I can get any decent ones and my phone has such a week camera. I'm still waiting on the cuff links I ordered. I am planning on getting nickel free adjustable rings too. I'm allergic to nickel as are many others so I figured that would be a great way to make some cool rings that are cost effective. I have also been working on some charms to turn into earrings and necklaces. This year I will have a wide variety of things for people to buy. I'm still having issues with the Maya cat I'm working on. Hypnotoad is on the back burner with the head crabs. I'll be testing out Mini Moose soon so let's hope I don't have to go back to the drawing board with that one. Hopefully I can get pics up of all the work I have been doing and all the neat things that come to me in the mail.

Unexplainable illness

I have been suffering with my seasonal allergies for the past few weeks. At least I get a slight break when it's rainy for a few days. Sadly my 6 year old is ill. He threw up 4 times right after a nap Sunday afternoon and then again while in bed Sunday night. He got himself up this morning so I didn't know he had thrown up overnight until my husband went to put him in bed tonight(yes I realize it's technically Tuesday but I feel it's not the next morning until you go to bed or the sun comes up...which ever comes first). I wish I knew what was wrong with him. All he tells me is he is fine. Is father did the same thing when he was a kid. Hopefully he is better soon. At least he doesn't have school right now. I have some crafting news but I will save that for tomorrow.

Head Scarf Update...and more

I know it's been kind of a long time since the last post . I'll update you a little on what has been going on. I have scrapped the head scarf project with the chunky yarn and will try again with probably 2 strands worsted weight. We'll see how that goes.

On other news I'm gearing up for the overhaul on Anime convention work. I have several plushies lined up to be made and 3 costumes that need to be completed. I'll be attending Anime Nebraskon with Dumpster Cat. We'll be sharing a table again this year. If you are at the con pop in at the Cat Girls table and check out our work. I hope to have good news to report soon(if I remember to post).

Head Scarf

So I have been working on a project for MLYS(my local yarn shop). It is a winter head scarf. The owner bought one a while back and has had it up in the shop. Many people have asked for a pattern for it so I'm kind of reverse designing it and I'm on the verge of having it done. I will post the pattern and maybe even a video of how to make it.
